Bixby Hill is a 24-hour gated community in Long Beach, California that is situated across from California State University of Long Beach. Residents are close to services and are minutes from the beach.
Bixby Hill is comprised of one and two story single family homes that were built between 1966, and 1973. There are also condo complexes of Bixby Hill Manor, and Bixby Hill Gardens. Many University staff and students live in this community and the Home Owners Association fees are low.
Residents are within walking distance of The Pyramid and the Carpenter Center on campus. The Bixby Golf Course is just a few miles south past 7th street. It offers 9-holes on 1,795 yards of golf for a par of 30. This course was designed by Ron Fream and is open to the public with a daily golf fee. Farther south from Bixby Hill is the Alamitos Bay, an inlet off of the Pacific Ocean. There are 1991 boating and yacht slips here and many yacht clubs call this home.
There are several shopping centers in this region like Shoreline Village, City Place, and Long Beach Towne Center. You’ll find many cultural activities and venues including the Long Beach Museum of Art, the Long Beach Sports Arena, the East Village Arts District, the Long Beach Opera, and the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music.
The Long Beach Unified School District provides public education with facilities such as Hill Classical Middle School and Wilson High School as well as highly ranked Kettering Elementary School. There is also the private education option with schools like First Baptist Church School, Zinsmeyer Academy, St. Anthony High School, Oakwood Academy, and Maple Village Waldorf School.
Long Beach is the nation’s 35th largest city and the state’s seventh. It has the busiest container port as well as one of the largest shipping ports in the world.
